Municipal Forums Program

About Forums

The Municipal Users' Forums on Trenchless Technology Program, also known as the Municipal Forums Program, is a program sponsored by the Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) and the Trenchless Technology Center Industry Advisory Board (IAB).

The forums are one day events which bring municipalities and other end users of trenchless technology to learn about trenchless technology basics and latest developments and exchange information on topics of mutual interest. Forums are offered to employees of any municipality, county, or utility, and where appropriate to consultants working on behalf of municipalities. They allow end users to exchange ideas, discuss mutual problems, and form networks of support for underground asset management related issues.

The program initiated in 1999. Over the years, the forums have been held regularly (annually) or occasionally in various locations in the U.S. and Canada.

The forums layout is arranged around a one-day meeting schedule (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM) that allows most participants to travel to and from within the meeting day. For the morning part and part of afternoon, the Trenchless Technology Center invites manufacturers and/or consulting companies to give presentations on topics requested by the public works members. Typically, six presentations are scheduled to inform about current issues relevant for the trenchless technology community, new developments, methods and technologies on the market, etc. Often presented are details and lessons learned from completed case studies. Participants frequently prefer to have presenters discuss industry-wide and non-product specific issues. Field demos of technologies can be part of program but are scheduled per request. Forums end with a closed session attended only by the public works employees where they can freely discuss issues, problems and solutions to problems involving trenchless technology.

Cost: Starting from $55 for municipal employees, which includes breakfast/lunch/refreshments and handouts. Optionally, additional $15 for issuing CEU certificates (typically 0.5 CEU for attending one forum).
